About Canine Years Explained

Aging dogs, explained with numbers

Canine Years Explained covers research on how dogs age and what the numbers say about products used at home. We write about lifespan and healthspan studies and what a senior-dog trial measured. We also show how to read the figures printed on a supplement tub or an orthopedic bed. Much of the work sits in the gap between a bold headline about extra years and what a study actually found.

Theo Marsh and our pen names

Theo Marsh is our senior writer and also reviews what we publish. Theo reads the figures closely and returns to an article when an error is found. All of our writers, Theo included, publish under pen names. What they write about home products comes from their own houses, dogs and routines.

A note on images

We use licensed stock photography and clearly labeled editorial illustrations. None of it shows our writers’ homes. A picture of a gray-muzzled dog on a ramp doesn’t mean we tested that ramp. A clinic photo doesn’t mean we visited that clinic. Articles say so when either of those did happen.
